She noticed my mom on the ground and stopped. Somehow she got her in a chair, and bandaged up her elbow that had been cut in the fall.
I've always heard God puts people in your path for a reason. Recently, my mom was out watering her flowers and fell from her porch to the sidewalk. Katie just happened to drive by while looking for one of her friend's houses, which wasn't even in the neighborhood. She noticed my mom on the ground and stopped. Somehow, she got her in a chair and bandaged up her elbow that had been cut in the fall. She very calmly called me to say that she had fallen, and we were on our way.
When we got there, Katie was a godsend. She explained what she found and explained that she was afraid her hip was injured and she more than likely needed stitches on her elbow. Of course, being a stubborn 85-year-old woman, my mom said, "I don't think I need to be checked out." Katie told her if you were my grandma, I would make you go. She stayed till we got her in the car and headed off. Katie has kept in touch, checking on how she's doing, and even stopped by to see her.
It was getting to be dusk when all this took place, and I truly believe had God not put Katie in the right place at the right time she would have been out there all night, and the outcome would have been not so good. She did have a broken hip, which required surgery and stitches in her elbow. Katie went way above and beyond. We have found a forever friend, and we love her. I feel she deserves this award for being the caring, compassionate, and loving nurse she is.
