Katie Wood 2024, BSN, RN

I would like to nominate Katie. Katie was a blessing to both my family and my father during his final days and hours in the Oncology Wing at Meritus. My dad called Katie his "favorite nurse," and even on his last day, she was able to lighten his mood and bring him some joy through his pain and suffering. Katie was extremely thorough in her care for my father, my family had all taken note of her willingness to go the extra mile, without being asked. She suggested a creative solution for helping him take medicine (using applesauce) when he was unable to do so; she always ensured his wounds were properly dressed and fresh; she was also very cognisant of bed positioning and helped my father rotate often. My father's medical care and comfort ALWAYS felt prioritized while Katie was on duty, and our family will never forget the sacrificial care and love she demonstrated to our grieving family.
