Kayla Weiner has been one of the many great nurses who has tended to me and my needs but I feel like she stands out from the rest because of how she has treated me. Since day one, she has gone above and beyond for me. She always has a smile on her face and has been genuinely concerned for my overall health and well-being. She is constantly checking on me and always ask me if I'm ok or in need of anything, and if I do need something she gets it for me with a smile on her face and in a timely manner.
After being here for three days and finally beginning to feel better, I was hoping to be discharged but to my surprise, I received news that I had to stay another day because of an infection and they had to figure out how to take care of it. Anyway, the fact that I had to stay again and everything that I had been through (including being pregnant) it was not the news I wanted to hear and I became a little overwhelmed and began to cry. Kayla came in afterwards to see if I was ok and saw that I was in a bit of distress and sad. She tried to comfort me, because I feel like she genuinely cared about me as if I were family. She went and got me coffee and then left. About an hour later she came back and asked me to follow her. I was a bit confused but followed her across the hall to another room. She then said, "this is for you, it's a private room with a better view". I was in shock; I couldn't believe that she got me my own private room to be able to spend quality time with my family in privacy.
It was in that moment that I realized how special this young lady is and how she had turned my day around with the simplest gesture. I couldn't believe that she had done that for me; she made me feel so special and for this I want to recognize her and let her know how thankful I am to have had her as one of my nurses. She is truly an amazing nurse who genuinely cares for her patients and enjoys her job.
