Our experience with Kayleigh as my son's nurse was excellent from the very beginning. My son came into Kayleigh's department on an early Sunday morning with a broken jaw and injured chest plate from an ATV accident. My son was in a lot of pain, scared, and honestly a little difficult to deal with because of his fear of needles and blood. Kayleigh made sure my son was comfortable and answered all of his 200 questions with knowledgeable answers and made him breathe a sigh of relief when he knew she was on shift for those few days.
Kayleigh went above and beyond in helping him clean his hair of sticks, burrs, tangled hair, blood, and other debris for well over an hour. She also convinced my son to take a shower the night before his surgery and then combed all the tangles from his long hair. Her extraordinary ability to know what he needed to totally change his mood, from a depressed state to outgoing and happy, was amazing.
Because of the COVID restrictions, I was the only parent or person allowed to be there with my son. Without the awesome care and efforts from Kayleigh, our time at Toledo Hospital would never have run that smoothly and comfortably. We are so thankful and appreciative that Kayleigh was there to help us through the most difficult experience of our lives. Thank you.
