Kaylyn made all the difference in the world! She listened to me to understand what my fear was based on. She did not rush me and made me feel cared for.
I arrived helpless and seriously ill. I was in need of 2 procedures that I was afraid of and refused. I did talk with various staff who tried to help me be calm enough to agree to have the procedures done, to no avail. Then, I spoke with Kaylyn. She made all the difference in the world! She listened to me to understand what my fear was based on. She did not rush me and made me feel cared for. She explained both procedures in detail, so I understood clearly, which helped me a great deal. Kaylyn was always on time, and she was able to do multiple things at once with excellence and was organized while doing them. I know the doctors, meals, and other services helped me heal, but having those services provided by someone who does it with care was a big part of my healing. At times, I wanted to give up, but Kaylyn wouldn't let me. I found myself putting forth more effort to show her I could. She was also welcoming to my wife, family, and visitors. She even did things she could have passed to someone else, like a tech or EVS. Also, humor is important to healing. Her smiling face and encouraging words added to my healing. She didn't brag about who she was, and I found out she was a charge nurse when I asked the tech if I could speak to one. She knew how to answer all of my questions and treated the student nurse respectfully, and taught her while she worked. I was in horrific pain, but Kaylyn helped me manage it and keep it in control. Without her, I believe I would not have progressed as quickly. I will never forget her, and as I go further in my healing at an inpatient rehab center, I will remember all of her encouraging words and humor. Thank God for Kaylyn!
