I was scheduled for lumbar fusion of L3/L4, with my doctor and his office taking care of the rest. At 5:00 pm I had not heard from the hospital for a surgery time for the following day. So I called the hospital and spoke with Kelli Lathem. I explained I was waiting on a call for surgery for the next day, Kelli then stated to me," We do not have you on the schedule and I just found this out from the surgeon that you were to have surgery tomorrow.” I was crying and upset because I have been in pain for months and looking forward to getting this fixed. Kelli then states, "Please don't cry, save the tears for if I'm unable to fix this." This nurse reassured me that they were going to work on getting me on the schedule and call me back. We had multiple calls back and forth due to Kelli needing more information from myself to help them figure out what needed to be done. They were able to make phone calls and emails to collect my physical information, labs, ekg, and other info from my doctor’s office. All of this hard work that this nurse did took them about an hour and a half. When they called me letting me know they got everything to work out and arrival time and surgery time, I couldn't thank them enough. If I had not called I would have never known. Since making this call to this nurse they said to me that they can figure out how this happened, so it doesn't happen again.
Kelli could have just said I'm sorry we can't get you on the schedule, however, as great as they are, they go above and beyond, and helped me 110%.
When I arrived at surgery on the nineteenth, Kelli came and introduced themselves. I couldn't thank them enough, once again. They said they were going to do what they had to do to get my surgery completed.
