There are some people who are just exceptional in their field, and Kelli is definitely one of them.
Kelli is an amazing ANM on the Maternal/Newborn unit. Kelli is an exceptional leader who puts her patients and fellow staff members first. She can be found 'bopping' about the unit making sure to be in every delivery, assisting in any way she can, especially assisting the ACPs when they have an overwhelming assignment. Kelli is a great representation of what it takes to lead a team and communicate efficiently and effectively between providers, administration, and staff. She is deserving of this award.

Kelli Sanchez, ANM on LDRP nightshift is extraordinary and exemplifies outstanding nursing and nursing leadership. When I think of and read the attributes a DAISY nurse and nurse leader possesses, Kelli comes to mind immediately and truly exemplifies them all. Any opportunity Kelli has to assist a staff member or patient she happily does so and oftentimes without being asked. Kelli goes out of her way to advocate for the patient's wellbeing and help nurses advocate for their patients when in difficult situations. Every shift I work with Kelli I am able to learn something from her. She is an expert in her field and a constant source of support and knowledge for our team. She provides the nursing staff with opportunities to grow and learn any time she is able to, whether it makes her job as ANM more difficult because she is required to assist those who are learning more often. She is a team player and truly leads us each shift she is here, by guiding, assisting us, and providing support to our patients any opportunity she has. Kelli rarely sits at the nursing station, she is most often seen walking the unit to be bedside or check on staff and their patients. When Kelli's name is mentioned, it is easily seen that she is one of the most highly regarded and appreciated team members and nurse leaders on our staff. She supports her team fiercely and expects high standards in the level of care her team provides, and in turn, provides high standards in her nurse leadership. There is never a time staff does not feel they can go to Kelli with any issues or questions because she creates an environment that is safe, supported, and full of trust and respect and still educates on how we can improve or steps to follow. I am so thankful for Kelli and the leadership she has provided my fellow team members and me. She makes such a huge difference daily to us and our patients and is one of the reasons so many of our patients have positive outcomes, especially during emergent or critical situations. Kelli is truly an asset to us, our doctors, and our patients. She is extraordinary and I do not have the words to properly thank her for all she has done for our patients and our team. I hope she knows how special and appreciated she is, she is truly one of a kind and perfect for the leadership role she has. Thank you, Kelli!

Kelli is not only an exceptional leader but an admirable patient advocate. To be able to pick just one story where Kelli has gone above and beyond herself to advocate for not just the health of our moms, but babies is hard to do. Her attention to detail and quick problem-solving abilities are not only some of the reasons that make her a great nurse but a leader you can respect and follow. There have been several incidences where Kelli has had to administer the right medical care to patients in the absence of doctors. What makes Kelli a leader to admire is that she will never ask anything of you that she wouldn't do herself. I've seen Kelli mop the bathroom floor when the visitor bathroom flooded and didn't even ask for help or pass the responsibility to someone else. One of her greatest attributes I most admire is her ability to calm a nervous mom down. We once had a mom whom Kelli suspected of having an abruption. Through her knowledge and diligence, she was able to make the proper call to get the physician to perform a stat C-Section, give the staff a heads up to prepare for an emergency, and comfort a very frightened mother by holding her hand and reassuring her that she won't leave her side. If you ask her, she'll just tell you she's doing her job. There are some people who are just exceptional in their field, and Kelli is definitely one of them. That's what prompted me to submit a DAISY Award nomination for her because even without it, she truly epitomizes what it takes to be a great nurse.
Thank you, Kelli, for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! Congratulations on receiving this DAISY Award!
