In the four semesters I’ve known Kelly throughout our nursing school career I’ve had the privilege of getting to see her grow in so many ways. I’ve worked in the health field for almost two years now and I’ve done countless clinical hours at multiple facilities on multiple units and I have never seen anyone advocate for patients the way Kelly does. Kelly is clearly passionate about every single person she gets to take care of and she shows it by the way she works. Not only is she extremely book smart and knows so many things about so many things but she doesn’t hesitate to ask questions to learn more. She also has empathy- a natural skill that MANY seasoned nurses don’t even have. Whether it is sitting down and having a conversation with a patient whom no one has taken the time to listen to in weeks or telling a preceptor it’s not safe to give a patient a certain medication based on her assessment, Kelly isn’t afraid to fill in the gaps that no one else cares the fill. Anyone who has the privilege of getting Kelly as a nurse after she graduates is going to be such a lucky person. They’ll be in the safest hands.
