My sister delivered her baby boy a week early due to high blood pressure. Her extended stay made her extremely nervous and anxious which did not help lower blood pressure. This new chapter in her life is stressful and Kelly made herself available for anything my sister needed. She offered non-pharmacological approaches to relax my sister like offering foot rubs with lavender lotion. When my sister was losing hope in breastfeeding, Kelly was there with positive encouragement. If a certain technique didn't work with breastfeeding, she was in there coaching my sister in other ways to tackle this obstacle. Kelly taught my sister that not all babies are the same and she will have to test and see what the baby likes. This gave my sister some hope as being a new single mother.
Kelly is very knowledgeable about her job and shows that she is very passionate about mothers and their new bundle of joy. She went the extra mile to make sure my sister's needs and concerns were met. Whenever any of the family members had questions, she educated them to the best of her ability. An example would be, my mom who is Korean. My mother doesn't speak the best English or has the best understanding of the language. Plus, my mom asked countless questions. Kelly took the extra minute to make sure my mother understood the plan of care for her daughter and new grandson. From my experience seeing Kelly work, I can tell Kelly loves her job and cares about her patients.
I think someone who rubs my sister's feet and can educate my mom, deserves to recognized for their hard work!
