Kelly Scheuerman, ADN RN

Kelly was my night nurse during a 5-night stay following a big abdominal surgery to deal with two tumors related to pancreatic cancer, any affected organs, and a total hysterectomy. Amid my physical pain and my emotional pain of awaiting pathology reports, Kelly’s calm and confident care was very soothing. She always made me feel like I was the only person in the world she was taking care of, lingering to talk, making me extra comfortable with pillows perfectly placed and medicine given at just the right time. She soothed my worries with her positive demeanor, and I was always so relieved when I learned that she was my night nurse again. She made the long nights not feel long by being available to take me for a walk or just talk about life for a little while. She always subtly protected my dignity by helping me as I needed it and giving me as much privacy as she could safely do while reassuring me of how natural and easy it was for her to take care of my basic needs. I’m sure there are many many great nurses out there, but I’m glad Kelly was mine. She is an outstanding combination of professionalism, knowledge, compassion, intuition, calmness, and friendliness…the perfect night nurse for me. Thank you, Kelly!
