A 30-year-old patient with Guillain Barre requested Kelsey every night she worked. She took extra special care of him because of his limitations. She personally encouraged him, bathed him, brushed his teeth, wiped his face, and fed him herself. Kelsey is the perfect example of patient and family-centered care. She involved the family and patient in all decisions. She guided him and his family for information into long-term care facilities, and his transition to going home. Kelsey gave excellent care to him and talked with him for hours even after her regular work shift. She stayed late to encourage him. She specifically organized a birthday card and even took it to him while he was in the hospital. She made sure he got excellent care on her off shifts and checked on him daily even off. She went above and beyond to give excellent care with compassion.
