Kerri spent her ENTIRE shift in full PPE at the patient's bedside because she refused to leave her alone during such a vulnerable and scary time.
Kerri was recently assigned a patient who came to the unit in labor and was COVID positive. The patient was not able to have any visitors with her because her daughter was also sick, so her husband had to stay home with her. Kerri spent her ENTIRE shift in full PPE at the patient's bedside because she refused to leave her alone during such a vulnerable and scary time.
Kerri took one, five-minute break to take a drink of water and then immediately went right back in. She then stayed for the 2 hours post-delivery at the bedside to make sure the patient and her newborn were comfortable and well taken care of. Several times that I looked in to see if she needed anything, she was standing there just talking with the patient and/or holding her hand. I feel that she went way beyond what was expected of her duties that night to make the delivery as comfortable and precious that she could.
