There are multiple reasons as to why Kerry is so deserving. He is an essential part of our unit and to me personally as a new nurse leader. Kerry is an exceptional mentor and educator to everyone around him. No matter the discipline you are a part of, without hesitation, he will go above and beyond to help you. I am in awe of the special connection he can make with all patients during nurse leader rounds, as they always remember him and give him shout-outs even days after a conversation with him. I had a loved one admitted to our ICU recently, and they won’t stop raving about Kerry's bedside manner. Lastly, during our morning huddles, he is always ensuring he is being respectful and treating all staff with dignity. Kerry always states, “If I ever offend you or make you upset, I want you to tell me so I can fix it.” This creates such a safe space for all other staff and me to bring forth issues or concerns and have a collaborative conversation. Kerry is the epitome of what this award deems to recognize, and we are so lucky to have him! Thank you, Kerry!
