While I was inserting a PICC line in a 15 year old in the PICU, Kimber was the nurse monitoring the patient. The patient was unable to receive any medications for pain or sedation because his blood pressure was too low, and he was on several medications to increase his blood pressure. He was awake and alert during the procedure. Kimber did an excellent job distracting him with riddles to help him tolerate the procedure well. She has a great sense of humor, very appropriate for the pediatric patient. She was kind and empathetic, as she usually is, all the while keeping track of his vital signs, pain, anxiety, and medications.
