Kim went above and beyond for me (a fellow RN) and most importantly a patient of mine. I entered the room of my patient in response to a call light to find my patient in severe anxiety distress, sobbing in tears, and hyperventilating. I was able to slow my patient’s breathing down, and slowly begin to calm her down. Noticing my patient was still trembling and tearful through trying to focus on her breathing, I asked her permission to seek the help of a fellow colleague who has a special talent and ability. Kim was able to therapeutically coach and guide my patient through her moment of crisis. She sat with my patient and used redirected guided imagery, with therapeutic touch and speech to redirect and calm my patient. My patient could not stop thanking me for bringing Kim to her and she was in awe of Kim’s "gift" and her compassion. This is just one of many examples of Kim's great attributes to her patients and teammates. She is a true example and display of therapeutic and compassionate care.
