She was once willing to crawl through a window to rescue a patient and repair the door when they had become trapped. Krissy is a giver.
A DAISY nurse is passionate. Krissy is very passionate about her patients. I have seen her fired up more than once when she was concerned about the care of her patients. Once, she threatened to drive to another hospital to get a patient to ensure that a laboring patient received care from a trained OB nurse. Thankfully, they were able to stabilize and transfer the patient. She is also compassionate not only with her patients but also compassionate towards her staff. She was very kind to me when each of my grandmothers passed away. She was there for me and was willing to do whatever I needed to make the time easier for me.
Krissy is empathetic towards others. She gives second chances. I have seen her talk kindly and provide advice to both patients and staff who have gotten themselves into bad situations. She can be appropriately stern when needed but is also empathetic and encouraging. Supportive to guide them onto the right path. Krissy is absolutely a team player. She has always been willing to help other departments. Her motto is "Let's do this." Whether it be delivering a 30-week gestational age newborn, working on the geri-psych unit, or figuring out how to fix a door that isn't working with a patient trapped on the other side. She has been known to rescue critters that were trapped in the AC closet. She is always willing to lend a hand wherever she is needed. She will work with her team to get the job done. Her patients and her colleagues can trust her to do her best.
Krissy doesn't do her job with a "look at me" attitude. She does it because it is a part of her. She enjoys volunteering with M*A*S*H camp- mentoring high school students who are interested in the medical profession. She also serves on multiple committees in the hospital and works hard to make them successful. She is passionate about caring for her patients and mentoring others. She is a great patient advocate and treats her patients as if they were her own family. She is a great asset to BCMC and the community. Krissy loves nursing and loves working for BCMC. She loves her patients and gives of herself to them. She was once willing to crawl through a window to rescue a patient and repair the door when they had become trapped. Krissy is a giver. She gives her all to the profession, even when her own health is failing. She has struggled for years with health issues, but she does her best to keep going for her colleagues and for her patients. Krissy exhibits the characteristics of a DAISY and truly represents what it means to be a DAISY nurse.
