Kristi saved me! I had one of my worst/craziest shifts since I started as an RN in 2005. I was working with a family that was on day 5 of Diabetes education (most families only get 3 days) and the Endocrine team was confident that they were ready to be discharged. The mother of the patient was coming up with every excuse not to go home (laundry, needing to shower, patient needing to
get to bed early, needing to stop at a pharmacy for herself) and was making it impossible for me to care for my other 2 patients. She was on the call light the entire shift, and was coming up with multiple bizarre requests.
Kristi was very respectful, yet direct with the mother and helped me walk the mother through the discharge. The mother was very difficult to get focused and Kristi made me feel very supported as an RN, she was in the room with me and providing hands on care every step of the way. We both left the hospital after 2030. If it were not for Kristi the family would not have been discharged and I would have been in tears!
Thanks for being such a supportive CNS to all of the RNs on the Medical Unit. I could not have done it without you!
