Kristin Sharp and I cared for a patient who had waited many days to have surgery when the physician finally decided to forgo surgery and transfer the patient to a more acute hospital. The patient was extremely upset and had many questions for the doctors. Kristin sat with the patient for quite a while listening to the patient express her feelings about the situation. Kristin sat with the patient while she cried and was very empathetic towards her. Kristin then called the physicians personally to have them come to speak with the patient and answer her questions. I was very impressed with Kristin; she is definitely the type of person I want on my patient's team.
