My wife had a very large stroke on Wednesday. She is recovering in the ICU until she can be transferred to lesser priority care. During her time here we have interacted with many RNs and Kristin is one of the two who stood out. Kristin has shown the kind of love and compassion towards myself but most importantly to my wife, that I feel most people reserve for their own families. She goes above and beyond, spending more time listening and helping us than anyone we've met yet. She encourages my wife and motivates her small victories. She has taken an interest in B's own personal life, looking at pictures from her photography business and encouraging us to decorate the room with cards and memorabilia for B. She has shown us more exercises for her than even the physical therapist. She also has checked in on my wife continuously, even when no alarm is beeping, or it's not yet time for more medication, just to make sure we're as comfortable as possible during this difficult time. She makes my wife smile and immediately recognized that my wife is a special and wonderful person who deserves all the help, love, and compassion she can get to grow stronger and maintain a positive attitude in the aftermath of her stroke.
