We had a patient admitted under an alias as an adult. Kristine was working as break relief but suspected the patient of being a minor and a victim of abuse. Kristine worked tirelessly to develop a bond with this female patient until she confirmed her identity. She kept her from being released until her age was confirmed. She contacted all proper support agencies, including case managers, social workers, and the police department to ensure that the patient was safe and had a safe discharge plan. By the end of the day, we were pleased to see the patient be open about her history and accept help from law enforcement.
