Our stay in Labor and Delivery at Sunnyside with our first child started under less-than-ideal circumstances. My water broke at 32 weeks, and we had an almost 3-week stay. We left with a healthy preemie, but what made a scary situation better was the love and care we received from every single nurse and staff member we encountered. Kym was one of those nurses. We bonded with her immediately. Fast forward two years to the birth of our second child. We were told we couldn’t go to the hospital near us, but I was happy that this meant we were headed back to Sunnyside. Kym was our nurse for the birth this time. She not only listened and attended to our needs but also spent time catching up with us and making us feel comfortable. She goes above and beyond the scope of her job. Giving birth is an amazing but scary experience. Especially after the early birth of our first, I was very nervous. But Kym was there to ensure I was at ease and relaxed. I am so grateful every day for her help, support, kindness, humor, and the love she showed us during both experiences.
