On Laura's first day at Mercy, I was there to give her a quick orientation as the travel nurses only get a few days. I noticed that she was able to build a rapport with the few patients we worked with that day, in the few quick minutes you get to spend with the patient while they're actually awake; that's definitely something that isn't easy to do. She also made sure they knew what was going to happen step-by-step and reassured them while they were drifting off to anesthesia-land, placing a hand on them for comfort even though it's something they probably wouldn't even remember happening at that moment; it was just an act of kindness.
Laura is great to work with; she always has a bubbly attitude and stays positive in what can be a sometimes mundane OR! She's taken on a great role here at Mercy, helping new people get acclimated and training new travelers! Everyone here seems to like her and would love for her to stay.
