Laura Laackman clearly loves her work, demonstrated not only by her outstanding clinical skills, but also her passion for connecting with her patients. Our dying mom was one of those fortunate enough to have Laura as her nurse several times over the course of a few weeks. It was during that time that Laura's compassionate care and attentiveness made her a member of the family. Her friendly disposition, warmth and sense of humor were an absolute delight. Even when Laura wasn't Mom's nurse, she'd pop in several times a shift just to say hi or give a hug. One day as the end neared, Mom said, "I sure hope Laura stops in one more time. I really want one last hug." Sure enough, 30 minutes after a busy shift elsewhere, and without cute, Laura was there, offering that final embrace.
Laura is the poster child for holistic nursing, she is the complete package!
