It is so difficult to pick just one situation to describe Laura. I have been privileged and blessed to work alongside her for 10 years now. She does an exceptional job of welcoming and coordinating the orientation of our new employees. Laura does her best to give them a well-rounded, complete experience. Laura is available to them whenever they need her. She makes it clear to them that they are her priority and it is evident that her heart is dedicated to her role and her teammates. Laura devotes herself to every employee on CSU. Making sure someone is confident and knowledgeable about their role is her passion. I remember when we were planning to get a Berlin heart patient on the floor and it had been a while since we had cared for one. Laura spent hours just going to the CICU, seeing how the patient was doing and getting to know the family. This provided a level of comfort to the family they would not have had otherwise. Laura also spent hours educating nurses on the floor and refreshing them on this advanced competency. She was always visible, checking on the staff and making sure they had everything they need. I don't know how she does it, but her caring, compassionate, supportive nature reaches patients, families, and staff in a way that I have never seen before. Laura truly does help make CSU the unit it is and we are so grateful for her.
