My husband was in Bethesda North for 6 days in serious condition. He was in extreme pain with nausea for several days. It was hard to watch him endure. The only silver lining to that dark cloud was a nurse named Laura McMakin that took care of him several nights and went above and beyond to keep him as comfortable as possible. I was so impressed by the way she made him feel like the only one she was taking care of. The way she comforted him, showed kindness, caring and diligence to make sure she was doing absolutely everything she could do to ease his symptoms. She never gave up, and if one med wouldn’t work, she would stay on top of it until she found out what would work best for him. She should be an inspiration to all nurses!!! She is definitely a God send to the nursing profession and should be commended on her professionalism, compassion and outstanding efforts. It’s truly her gift to this world.
