Lauren's understanding of my Autism was unlike any other nurse I have ever met. She understood me, and her understanding was instrumental in helping to gather the information needed to help the medical team create my treatment plan. I have had multiple scary events with my health, with over 800 days in a hospital over the past 6 years. I have struggled with communication through my journey with complex chronic illnesses. Lauren's ability to communicate with patients with cognitive differences is truly unparalleled.
For the first time, I didn't have to explain myself and worry about being misunderstood. The hardest part of my multiple organ systems, chronic illnesses is not the needles, surgical procedures, or ICU stays: [It is] struggling to be understood. Lauren has a profound gift of understanding and utilizing that ability to get her patients the care they need and assuring the doctors are on the same page to help make the time evenly spread out so all patients can get what they need [when they need it]. Her time management skills were truly incredible. She was able to meet the needs of all her patients while being timely with medications and [completing] doctors' orders.
When I came into this hospital, I was nervous and scared. Lauren helped me calm down, and she understood me. She has helped me with my anxiety as well. Her compassion and ability to balance care among her patients, while meeting everyone's needs is incredible! Her time management, accompanied by her incredible bedside manner [is impressive]. The ED can be a very fast-paced and quick-to-change environment. Lauren demonstrates above and beyond her ability [to be able] to handle the ED. She helped me feel comfortable and work through my trauma. For all these and more, Lauren is a true DAISY Nurse!
