I reached out to Colorado Children’s Hospital’s Vascular Anomalies department in need of assistance with what has shown to be a very difficult case. After having multiple specialists through Washington and California review and decline, Lauren recognized a need to assist and reached out to the University of Colorado’s Vascular Surgery team. She then called me back, provided a name and fax, and ultimately assisted in the care of this patient. Lauren truly went above and beyond. It may have been a couple of phone calls on her end, but to this patient who needs highly specialized care, this small act was so much more. Thanks to Lauren’s dedication to patient care, a child from Alaska will be scheduled for care with the University of Colorado. It’s the small gestures that separate a good nurse from a great nurse.
