Lauren demonstrated the most amazing nursing skills, and quality, I’m not even sure what to call it! Intuition! A confused patient was not able to be calmed for days. This person was either heavily medicated or agitated. No in between… then Lauren collaborated with the interdisciplinary team, found this person was a choir leader. She put classical music to play in his room and he immediately responded positively. Lauren listened, acted, and gave this patient exactly what he needed. This wasn’t medicine, it was compassionate, patient-centered care. No one could be more deserving of this award.
