Laurie was asked by a clinic nurse to teach BLS to the parents of a child with a tracheostomy so the child could be discharged. Laurie willingly completed this training for them, and they were grateful. Within a couple of weeks of having their son home, his trach plugged up with mucus and the parents had to perform an emergency trach change. The child was desatting and after 911 was called they had to bag him so he could receive oxygen.
Laurie's BLS instruction for these parents saved their son's life! Laurie is a skilled BLS instructor and teaches many classes for staff. She quadrupled the number of classes during COVID to limit class sizes but still readily agreed to provide 1:1 teaching for these parents. Thank you for your dedication and commitment!
