Ms. Allarde has been working as a nurse for over twenty years in both the Phillipines and Saudi Arabia. During this time she has proven herself to be an outstanding healthcare provider. She joined the Pediatric Outpatient Department in 2007, where since she has assumed the role of Coordinator of the Synagis Immunization Program. This role requires her to keep accurate patient records and requires follow up with patients of when to schedule to come in. In addition, she was chosen as a Core Evaluator of nasogastric tube insertion privilege.

Leila has a cheery disposition about herself and brings a sense of calm to the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic. She is a team player and is always going above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to her patients. For Leila, her patients come first as she strives to deliver the highest level of care. She is compassionate in her approach and is able to understand the needs of the parents having sick children.

Just a few weeks ago, a child diagnosed with Hemophilia was to get his first set of immunizations. Although a routine procedure with minimal risks, the mother was very nervous and anxious about possible complications. Leila realized this and talked to the mother to appease her. In addition, she showed the mother what she was going to do. She even went back to the physician to return to the mother to reassure her.

The immunization went well and she allowed the mother to keep sitting in the clinic until the mother was satisfied. The mother stayed for a long time inside the clinic and Leila only let the child and mother leave when the mother felt 100 percent safe and satisfied.

Nursing is not only about giving medications, injections and follow up appointments, but it is about making our patients and their caregivers feel safe and comfortable in their environment. When we, as healthcare providers will do this, our patients will have no hesitation to return. Leila does just that, in the way she practices nursing every day.
