Our DAISY award winner is Leslea Zeno I met Leslea the morning after I gave birth to my new little girl. I had a typically rough night after her birth. Pain, a roller coaster of emotions, and the stress of becoming a new mom. But meeting Leslea lifted a weight off my shoulders. Her care and presence brought a calm to the room I had not yet experienced in my postpartum care. She made me feel so calm. I was a pretty anxious new mom! She was so persistent in her care and checked in on me more times than I can count. She taught me as much as she could before we were discharged. She knew I was anxious to get home and made sure everything was in order before her shift ended. I have no idea how many other patients she had that day, but she made my family feel like I was the most important family in the whole hospital! I would choose her to have as my nurse for every future delivery if I could. She was my peace and calm and reassurance that everything was going to be ok.

Baby H and I had an extended hospital stay due to him being early and needing extra phototherapy, however, I got discharged earlier than he did. Leslea was our nurse on Saturday when I was no longer a patient. I had developed a UTI and was struggling to get in contact with the OB on call at my doctor’s office and was in so much pain! Leslea went above and beyond tracking down the OB on the floor to get me a script called in. She was only there to take care of baby H but was gracious enough to take care of me as well. We learned so much from Leslea and loved having her help us enter the terrifying world of parenthood! We adore you Leslea; thank you for loving on us while we were in your care!
