I would like to nominate the cardiac ICU, especially Leslie Thornton, RN, for saving my life. I had a TAVR procedure that went quite well. The doctor did a great job. That night, while recovering, Leslie noticed some of my vital signs were decreasing. She felt a prompting to go into my room and check on me. While she was in my room, I died! She immediately began CPR while the rest of the staff leaped into action. Over the next couple of hours, they kept me alive until a temporary pacemaker was inserted (followed by a permanent pacemaker later in the day). Due to the outstanding work by Leslie and the rest of the cardiac staff, I went home the next day, and watched my granddaughter graduate the next week. Very well done, Leslie and all. PS: the care I received was awesome!!
