Liberty Lim is being recognized for being not only a great nurse, but even more of a friend to a young patient going through a traumatic loss.
Preparing to deliver her first child, the young patient was informed of the tragic news that her baby had died, and that she would need to deliver the stillborn child. Liberty, her nurse, formed a special bond with the young patient. “She connected with me more than most people in my family,” the patient said. Throughout the labor, Liberty stayed by the girl’s side, only leaving when medications were needed or to call a chaplain. “She kept a smile on my face during the worst two days of my life … I didn’t know coming to this hospital would change my life.”
