I have been a bit delayed in reaching out to express our gratitude for our experience at Lourdes. It has now been 8 weeks since B’s CABG and he is doing great. As you all advised us, those first 2-3 weeks post-op were certainly challenging. He still continues to sing the praises of everyone who cared for him, and I agree. We can’t begin to tell you how grateful we are for everything you and your teams did for us.

B loved all his nurses but was especially thankful for Lidia who cared for him in the ICU. She was outstanding in every way and should be recognized. She listened carefully to his questions and needs and was so responsive. She validated his concerns and was firm when needed, like making him get up and walk (in the kindest way!) She definitely is a role model for patient safety. For one example, as she was explaining the medications to us, I let her know that B’s brother had had a stent clot off because he couldn’t metabolize Plavix. I asked if that might be familial and if we should be concerned. She could have just brushed it off or said that’s what the doctor ordered, I am sure it is fine, etc. Instead, she stated she didn’t know but would find out. Not 15 minutes later she returned and said they wanted to change the Plavix to something else. Lidia also had a student nurse shadowing her and she was an excellent teacher. Please extend our thanks and let her know how much we appreciate her.

You all know how I could go on, so I will stop here. But please know how very thankful we are for all of you. I know our experience is reflective of the care and compassion you provide to all our patients.
