I have been lucky to say that I have had many inspiring moments in my life but being blessed to have been under Nurse Linda’s care is one of the most inspiring to date.
I was 7 weeks postpartum, at age 38, and woke up in the CVCU unit at UMC due to peripartum cardiomyopathy where I was intubated. I could not see my 7-week old newborn, I had to be weaned down from breastfeeding, and my emotions were a wreck. This was undoubtedly an untimely event. I was scared, I was vulnerable, and Linda made my days manageable! With her amazing sense of humor, her sense of humanity, and amazing nursing etiquette, I have never forgotten her!
Given my second chance at life, she encouraged me to finish my continued education (I had been a medical assistant for 18 years at that point); and I am now a 3rd year nursing student in pursuit of my BSN, RN! I think of her so often, I am so grateful for her and her care. I will never forget how she made me feel, how she spoke with me, and how she advocated for me! I may be crying right now as I type this, as I do every time I speak/think of her! I have been lucky to say that I have had many inspiring moments in my life but being blessed to have been under Nurse Linda’s care is one of the most inspiring to date.
