Linda went above and beyond to make a very challenging and sleepless night for the patient bearable. It was her second sleepless night in a row. The patient was exhausted, restless, agitated, and disoriented, and was in need of round-the-clock hourly bathroom visits. Linda was amazing! She was consistently patient, comforting, and reassuring each and every time she visited. Watching her extend her care, assistance, and understanding during this very challenging time was such a blessing. She was attentive to every one of the patient’s needs both physical and emotional. Her calm, reassuring voice and mannerisms made such a difference in calming and soothing the patient and me, as well. Many might be tempted to write off the disorientation in a 92-year-old patient as ‘normal’ but Linda was such a good listener and problem solver, she listened to the patient and knew this was not normal for her. Despite a negative UTI test, she agreed to talk to the doctor about rechecking, which led to a culture being done and a UTI diagnosis being made. Linda also put in a request, when she learned the patient’s depression medication had not been on her daily order, for that to be provided. Had it not been for Linda’s incredible care, and the overall care provided at SGMC, we aren’t sure where we’d be. The antibiotics have done wonders and the patient is leaving today to strengthen in rehab before returning home. Thank you, Linda, for being so good to the patient and the catalyst in making a 180º difference for her. You are the best!
