Lindi made a huge impact on our family's experience and hardship; she was trustworthy and the only nurse I ever felt comfortable leaving my baby alone long enough without me or my husband present to grab a bite to eat or take a nap.
My son was born with an Unseen case of CDH; the day he was born was terrifying, along with many days leading after. Lindi is a NICU nurse who only worked nightspots during our stay. My son was in the NICU for 50 days. My husband and I would take shifts for 8-12 hours on who stayed at the bedside with the baby to avoid leaving him alone. We knew and dealt with every day/night shift nurse he had. Out of every nurse, Lindi was the most gentle, kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable nurse we had during our stay.
I always got excited when I saw her come into our pod at shift change. She is one of the sweetest women I will ever meet in my life. She made me and my husband feel comfortable in a situation that seemed unbearable. We always wanted to request her as his nurse for nights, and there were many times that she had requested our son as her patient. I know that because she works nights and not days, her care for the babies likely goes unrecognized, but out of everyday shift and night shift nurse we could have, we would've chosen her every time. She was very attentive to our son, along with every other baby that she could tend to. She always looked out to make sure the babies were as comfortable as she could make them. She would play white noise for them, rock the babies who were lonely while she would chart, hum to them, etc.
She is extremely thorough with her drips, keeping things sanitized and being sure that her schedule and order of doing things would align with the care times of her other baby. Lindi made a huge impact on our family's experience and hardship; she was trustworthy and the only nurse I ever felt comfortable leaving my baby alone long enough without me or my husband present to grab a bite to eat or take a nap. Seeing that level of care like no other put our minds to ease in what will be one of the hardest and most tragic event in our families life, we can never thank her, or the entire hospital enough for saving my sons life. Thank you, UNM, for taking care of my baby so that I could bring him home with me. Thank you, Lindi.
