Lisa Jahng's clinical skill, her compassionate care, dedication to the nursing profession and generosity of spirit exemplify the principles of excellence we should all aspire to.
Lisa is committed to her profession not as a business but as a mission. For well over 40 years she has dedicated herself to her work. Although she briefly considered and interest in working in the cardiac cath lab, her passion is patient interaction. As a charge nurse in the ICU she has mentored the very best of our staff. Lisa is not only a leader but a highly intuitive, skilled and compassionate bedside nurse. Lisa fulfills her responsibilities as a charge nurse but she never rests. She leads by example: answering call lights, giving patient baths, sitting with confused patients and grieving families. If you walk through the ICU early in the morning hours you may hear her gentle soothing song as she comforts an agitated patient. Lisa is truly unique. She is truly the definition of what a nurse should be, what we should all strive for.
Lisa's career has spanned generations. She miraculously evolved with the times and the changes never missing a beat. As a critical care nurse she is technically highly skilled. We have watched Lisa save many lives. When Lisa suggest to a Cardiologist that a patient may benefit from an IABP they listen. She is highly respected for her clinical judgement and her experience. As a code blue and rapid response nurse Lisa is able to identify problems and implement care decisively.
Lisa is committed to her profession and to her nursing staff. She has delayed her own retirement, not wanting to leave until she feels she is leaving her staff in good hands. Lisa often schedules herself to work extra shifts, never complaining about being too tired. She is an inspiration. Her commitment to her calling as a caregiver extends beyond her hours at work. She is dedicated to many humanitarian causes with her church and community, that she humbly never speaks of. Lisa never turns a blind eye to those in need. In 2004 one of our beloved co workers was diagnosed with cancer. Lisa quietly dedicated herself to home visits, providing comfort, care and support to our friend and her family until her passing in 2006. Examples of her generosity and warm spirit are really endless. Lisa never calls attention to herself or her deeds. Lisa does what comes naturally to her, she care for others! We cannot imagine a more extraordinary example of excellence than Lisa Jahng.
