I first met Lisa in 2013 when I was first diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma. I had the opportunity to have her as my infusion nurse and sit in her section and see her at work with all of her patients. As Lisa worked with other patients, I witnessed how she made each person feel as if they were the only one she was taking care of. She made my family and me feel hope in what seemed like a hopeless situation at the time. Lisa is an extraordinary, compassionate nurse who made sure that she made having the IV inserted was as pain-free as could be including taking the time to heat my hand before inserting the IV needle. Lisa always made sure I was comfortable and had what I needed.
Fast forward to 2016 when my cancer returned. I requested to have Lisa as my infusion nurse again. I could not go through infusion again without her.
I went in for blood one day and went up to say hello to Lisa. She took one look at me and after a short conversation, she immediately knew that I needed IV fluids. She contacted the nurse practitioner and I quickly received the fluids I needed and another blood work up was done. This is an example of her commitment to excellence.
