I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for the way that Litzy went way, way above and beyond to give me peace of mind when she didn't have to.
I would like to take this time to express my appreciation and admiration for nurse Litzy. My story begins when my parent was admitted after a stroke. I live in Michigan and with COVID-19, I am very concerned about getting on an airplane then trying to visit my family in the hospital. I called to get a status update and I was directed to her nurse, Litzy.
Litzy took the time to verify that I was indeed allowed to have medical information and then she proceeded to very patiently answer every question that I had. She sympathized with my plight of being so far away and did all that she could to give me accurate information to help me in making my decision as to whether or not to head to Florida right away. I would have been on a plane immediately if not for COVID. Anyway, Litzy helped me through a very difficult time with grace, compassion, and sincere concern for what I was going through as a family member of her patient.
In September, my phone rang, and I just knew that it was THE call that I had been dreading. My parent was intubated and sedated, and I feared that I may never hear that voice again. I answered my phone.
Litzy was on the line and after she told me who she was, she said to me, "This may be hard to hear," which terrified me for a moment, then she said, "Say something..." I hesitated for a moment until I realized what she was asking me to do. I hesitantly called out and I heard a response for a few seconds, but I was able to say Happy Birthday, as an 85th birthday was the next day! My parent knew whereabouts and that a birthday was the next day. This took my breath away. I cried tears of sheer joy.
I don't have enough words to express my gratitude for the way that Litzy went way, way above and beyond to give me peace of mind when she didn't have to. Her thoughtfulness and kindness are the most generous things that a stranger has ever done for me in my entire life and I will never forget what she did and just how much she touched my heart. She is proof that goodness does exist in the crazy world that we are living in right now and she deserves so much more than I could ever repay. It is my intention to find some way to pay this forward. Thank you, Litzy, for the inspiration!
