Lorene's clinical skill and especially her compassionate care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our staff recognize as an outstanding role model. Here are some excerpts about Lorene from a patient letter:



Lorene went above and beyond the call of duty. As I waited by the front entrance, my wife went to retrieve the car from the North garage. My wife who has difficulty walking returned saying she could not find the car and was quite upset. Lorene came by after her shift on the way home and saw my wife with me. She offered to push my wife in a wheelchair to the lot and that she did. After a long wait she and my wife returned without the car. Lorene called security and asked them to drive us around in the garage to locate the vehicle, which we finally did. Lorene insisted she stay with us until security arrived, which was probably another 15 minutes or so. All of this probably took nearly an hour, all of this on her own personal time. This is truly exceptional care and deserves recognition. (Lorene was my nurse that day and handled my discharge).
