Lori Hoffman, LPN noticed an intoxicated Veteran leaving the hospital facility grounds and stumbling towards the heavy traffic and main road just outside the hospital. She came to the Veteran's assistance and prevented him from falling into the traffic just in time. She assisted the Veteran and stayed with him to ensure his safety as he walked back to the Urgent Care Center for treatment. Lori went above and beyond in this situation. Her quick and decisive actions, integrity, compassion, advocacy, and respect prevented harm to this Veteran in need. If she had not intervened, this Veteran could have experienced a less favorable outcome. Although this Veteran was not under her assigned area of responsibility that day, her actions are testimony to her commitment to the VA mission to provide exceptional care to all Veterans.
