Lori Longenecker is nominated for The DAISY Award for going above and beyond for one of our VAD patients. The VAD Clinic was created in order to provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary care for our patients. Lori has done that.

Our patient had a very difficult experience with Red Rose Transportation the day of her VAD Clinic visit and was forced to leave the Clinic prior to receiving care. Lori sat with the patient for 40 minutes while she waited for Red Rose. Lori took the time to call multiple times over the course of several days in order to reach a supervisor at Red Rose and advocate for the patient. Our patient was also unable to attend the support group meeting due to transportation issues. Lori drove from her home in Lancaster to the patient's home in Ephrata so that she could attend the support group meeting in Lancaster. She also took the patient to the Urgent Care in order for her to get an EKG and lab work drawn. Lori's actions led to the patient attending her first VAD support group meeting since her implant in 2009.
