Ms. Jennings is resourceful, detail-oriented, and dependable, working tirelessly to support her staff.
Ms. Jennings has a lifetime history of leadership since beginning her life of service, and this experience has built upon itself, creating the respected reputation of this dedicated hard-working leader. She volunteers for tasks and projects, such as her work for the Army Nurse Corps Birthday Celebration, Nurses Week Celebrations, assisting with reviewing candidates for various recognition and awards and assisting with interviews throughout the Nursing Administration Dept.
In addition, she sits on many workgroups in the hospital that benefits not only the patients but the hospital and staff as well. She exhibits exemplary professional bearing at all times, and you just know that this has been the case throughout her life and her military career. The way she speaks, the way she carries herself, her calm, reassuring tone and demeanor, her truthfulness, her encouragement, her empathy, and her never-ending patience; this is who she is, this is the kind of leader she is, the kind of nurse she is, and the kind of person she is.
While we frequently see Ms. Jennings in her professional interactions with the other departments, as her employees, it is easiest for us to address her role as Chief of Discharge Planning specifically. She leads, manages, provides oversight, and collaborates with the discharge planning team to assure the screening, coordination, and implementation of appropriate discharge services at the time of discharge for every hospitalized Med-Surg patient at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. Her management and coordination of our staff help assures that safe and efficient health care is delivered to all patients transitioning from the acute hospital setting to the next level of care. Ms. Jennings actively listens and encourages open, clear communications to achieve mutual understanding with all levels of people she interacts with on a daily basis. She is approachable and respected. She has exemplary critical thinking skills and a lot of common sense. She provides clear, thought-provoking input when her guidance and direction are sought. She listens and responds openly to the sharing of opposing views. She provides timely, fair, and non-judgmental feedback continuously. She is quick to share information with those she comes in contact with. She assists in researching regulations/policies, as well as important information related to the care of the patients, whenever requested. She provides solutions or courses of action when needed. She is extremely knowledgeable of the nursing process, the discharge planning process, the working of the hospital, as well as the military/Tricare experience.
Ms. Jennings is resourceful, detail-oriented, and dependable, working tirelessly to support her staff. Often identifies a need before anyone else does. She never refuses a request for assistance and goes above and beyond in assisting with any issues that may arise. She never asks us to do something she would not do herself and will jump in with both feet and work side-by-side with us to get the job done and the mission accomplished. She is quick to show her gratitude and appreciation, and she has the gratitude and appreciation of each of her staff members. She is a remarkable person, deserving of acknowledgment of her years of service to our country, and to the men and women charged with protecting it.
