Lucinda is the most dedicated nurse. She has served as a remarkable patient advocate and caring nurse for 15 years at CHS Cleveland. She cares deeply for her patients. One night after a patient had emergency surgery with no open beds in the hospital, Lucinda had to stay with the patient in recovery from midnight to 7:30 a.m. Not once did she complain. When I came in on my shift at 6:00 a.m. I offered to let her take a break and she refused. She did not want to leave her patient's side. When her shift was over, she would not let me take the patient over, as she wanted to be the one to take the patient to his room and give report. She said she had been with him for so long she did not feel right leaving him now. She left almost an hour past her shift and missed taking her daughter to school. Still no complaints. She feels a deep connection with her patients and never treats them like a number. Lucinda works nights alone and I know a lot she does goes unseen. We are lucky to have her in our unit. I hope one day I can be half the caring nurse she is.

I have had the unique opportunity to work with Lucinda for many years. She has and continues to be, one of the most dedicated nurses I have ever met. Her desire to help patients is reflected daily in her interactions with them and her staff.
