When COVID hit, Lynn was flexible and stepped up to the plate to help out wherever she was needed.
Passion/compassion for nursing and the care you provide: Lynn has always been an outstanding nurse, knowledgeable, and always willing to help out. She always puts her patients’ needs first. As an OR Nurse one of her main responsibilities is patient advocacy and ensuring patient safety. This is something that Lynn is very passionate about. She reports safety concerns or issues and always has suggestions for preventing a future safety event. Lynn is a perfectionist when it comes to her patients’ care. She works hard to get the job done right and is quick to resolve any issues with a patient’s care.
Excellence in the situation: Lynn strives for excellence as a nurse and as a person in general. She has been on the surgery float pool team for a number of years. She is always willing to travel to other metro CHI surgery departments to work when needed. When COVID hit, Lynn was flexible and stepped up to the plate to help out wherever she was needed. She cross-trained and floated to the ED and ICU to work when they needed help. She tasked on the floor and helped with EVS cleaning. She has worked at both the Pottawattamie County and Douglas County vaccine clinics, and she worked at the BAM infusion clinic at Midlands. Lynn has been very flexible and adaptable throughout this past year, willing to help anyone out in these trying times.
Trust (Integrity) and Teamwork of families, patients, and peers: Lynn is well respected by her co-workers and the surgeons. She is a resource nurse for several specialty services and is the “go-to” person for equipment, instruments, and supplies needs within these services. Lynn has excellent communication skills. She goes out of her way to explain things to patients and families in a way they understand in order to reduce fears and anxiety. Lynn’s patients, their families, and her peers trust her experience, knowledge, and skills that make her a great nurse and person.
Admirable attributes possessed: Lynn is a true role model for health care and CHI for her dedication to her nursing profession. Lynn is certified as a CNOR, and this validates her knowledge and expertise as an OR RN. Lynn’s biggest attribute is her compassion for her fellow man/woman. She is always compelled to do the right thing in order to make someone’s life better or day brighter.
Love and Reverence for the patient and nursing: Lynn loves being an OR Nurse! As previously stated, she truly has a passion for care. This is where her love for nursing starts and should be at the core of anyone’s healthcare career. Her motivation always stems from love and compassion for her fellow man/woman.
