Madi touched the life of her assigned patient. It was after our 2nd clinical that a woman approached and gave Madi a book and a hug. She explained to me after the students left, that her husband had Madi for his student nurse the week before. It was Madi's first assignment, and I know she was nervous. The patient and his wife did not notice that she was nervous. It was her demeanor of helping and caring that the patient and his wife report made his stay at the hospital so easy. In fact, he reported it was his first hospitalization. The book was one that the patient wrote, and he wanted Madi to have a copy. His wife found out that we came on Tuesdays to the hospital and came especially to make sure she received this token of their appreciation. What a great first clinical impression to leave on your patient. Thank you, Madi, for your great patient care and your spirit of loving that was evident to your patient.
