Madison was the nurse for an elderly patient in a difficult medical and social situation. To make things more challenging there was a language barrier. The family was very distraught as the patient was nearing the end of his life and the family was struggling with decisions and grieving. Madison showed true compassion in caring for him while also supporting the family at the bedside. Despite their frustration, she took excellent care of his pain, preserved his dignity while turning and cleaning, and kept the family updated via a translator. She spent an inordinate amount of time patiently repeating and reassuring her actions and treatments. She gently educated the family on keeping him safe at home after discharge by repeated demonstration with a translator. I am honored to work with such a kind and genuine nurse.
