Maggie Mae became aware of a patient who had not seen her son in a long time and when made comfort care she went above and beyond to coordinate a video conference with the patient and her son. This was a difficult task due to the patient's location but she did an extensive amount of work to seek the proper permission from the son's facility and working within the Kennedy Health System to make this task possible. The patient had hoped to be able to fight her disease and illness until she would be able to reunite with her son but unfortunately, this was not able to happen. Due to Maggie Mae's persistence, this patient was able to have her one last wish of reuniting with her son before passing. She described the experience of this patient talking with her son through the iPad to me describing how the patient was kissing the screen and holding the iPad close to her body as if hugging her son. This story about Maggie Mae going above and beyond brought tears to everyone's eyes on T2. I believe this act of kindness by her brought the patient closure and I am sure provided the son the same.

This nurse's vision and persistence allowed a dying woman's wish be granted. It reminds me of a fairy godmother story.

Maggie Mae went above and beyond to keep my family informed of my condition. She respected my personal wishes, which made me trust her and I was comforted knowing I was in good caring hands.
