Margaret Matthews is a junior nursing student at Baptist College of Health Sciences and is planning to complete her BSN in April 2016. Margaret was nominated by a nursing faculty member who noted her willingness to seek challenging patients with a multitude of learning opportunities. This decision has made her exceptional with linking theory to practice, critical thinking, communication, and patient advocacy. She has addressed situations with a patient experiencing low oxygen saturation and made sure appropriate actions were taken; additionally she addressed an issue with an elevated heart rate that resulted in prompt medical intervention. She is compassionate and often receives commendations by the patients and families for the care she provides.
